"I am a part of all that I have met..."

                                                                     Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Ulysses

Wanted, a man who is larger than his calling, who considers it a low estimate of his occupation to value it merely as a means of getting a living. Wanted, a man who sees self-development, education and culture, discipline and drill, character, and manhood, in his occupation.

                                 Orison Swett Marden, 1911

I hold a bachelor’s degree in History from Augusta University and a master’s degree in History from Georgia Southern University. While at GSU, I was the President of the Pi Alpha Chapter of the international history honors society, Phi Alpha Theta.

I worked for the Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites Division for three decades, serving at Georgia’s most important cultural places such as Fort McAllister State Park, Roosevelt’s Little White House State Historic Site, Fort Morris State Historic Site, and Laura S. Walker State Park. For nine years I was the Park Manager of A.H. Stephens State Historic Park. In 2006, I was nominated for Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites most prestigious honor - the Henry Struble Manager of the Year award.

Those positions allowed me to hone my craft working in museum settings, conducting research, and writing for interpretive materials from exhibit panels to historic site guidebooks.

In 2015, I was honored to become the Parks Division Historian where I focused on cultural resource interpretation, exhibit project management and interpretive writing for sites representing all periods of Georgia's history. In that role I also developed an extensive contact list representing many varied disciplines such as archival research, exhibit design and fabrication, and many more.

I have authored several articles on history for such publications as the Georgia Historical Quarterly, Georgia Backroads, the New Georgia Encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia of the American Civil War, Sea Classics, and Georgia's Great Places.

I am a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation, the historian for my Civil Air Patrol squadron, and a member of the Company of Military Historians. I am also an artist and collector of  militaria, vintage toys and other fun things.
